Pope Francis will visit Pakistan this year on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to reports, Islamabad has received a message from Vatican confirming the visit.
The invitation to the Pope was extended by Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael and Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yusuf.
Christians make up about 1.6 per cent of population in the Muslim-majority Pakistan.
