Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan visited the Assam Asset of the ONGC on April 15 and 16.
Pradhan visited the Geleky Drill site EV 2000 5 in Assam's Sibsagar District and took very keen interest on the onshore drilling process. He interacted with all the employees of the drill site to understand the nitty-gritty of the complicated drilling activities of the field as well as the working conditions of the employees.
Pradhan was accompanied by Members of Parliament Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and RameshwarTeli, Additional secretary A.P. Sawhney and CMD ONGC Dinesh K. Sarraf.
Pradhan also visited the GelekyGGS-I (Group Gathering Station-I) where oil is collected from all the wells in the surrounding areas. The Geleky GGS-I was constructed in 1968 and currently producing over 1000 tonnesof crude oil per day.
He also reviewed the overall performance of the ONGC Assam Asset in the late evening of April 15 to ascertain as to what should be done in order to increase the production of this one of the oldest Assets of ONGC.

While appreciating the efforts and enthusiasm of ONGC officers he said, "You need to think differently so that the decline in production is arrested and oil also comes from the new areas. The traditional way of thinking will not help make a turnaround of this Asset."
Pradhan said the dream of Hon'ble Prime Minister towards the progress of India's Northeast can be realized only when we are able to exploit the natural resources in this region particularly oil and gas in a much faster and better way.
He also reviewed the various activities in the field of CSR in Assam and shared his thoughts about how CSR activities can be made more structured and people oriented.
Team ONGC assured the minister that no stone would be left unturned to achieve higher production from this asset.
