Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid a visit to Amethi to thank voters for re-electing Rahul from the constituency.
Amethi, which has been a pocket borough seat of the Nehru-Gandhi family, emerged as one of the toughest electoral battles in the 2014 general elections.
It saw Priyanka Gandhi undertaking a sustained campaign to convince voters in the constituency to vote for her brother, as opposed to BJP candidate Smriti Irani and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Kumar Vishwas.
Rahul Gandhi emerged victorious by a margin of 1.07 lakh votes. In 2009, Gandhi had won the seat by a margin of over 3.70 lakh votes.
