The Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway has been closed due to a heavy landslide at Vishnu Prayag.
According to reports, the landslide has blocked the road to the Badrinath shrine.
The annual pilgrimage to four sacred shrines of the 'Char Dham', the four abodes, began earlier this month.
The popular pilgrimage route is known as the 'Char Dham Yatra' because of its four temple towns of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Earlier on April 26, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat had visited the Badrinath temple after its gate was opened, signalling the beginning of the pilgrimage.
