Rodney Rothman to script, direct '21 Jump Street' female spinoff

Rodney Rothman, who penned '22 Jump Street,' will write and possibly direct a spinoff to the '21 Jump Street' franchise.
Sony Pictures is setting Rothman to script, with an eye toward directing, a '21 Jump Street' spinoff movie where the main cops are female, reports deadline.com.
Neal Moritz is producing the spinoff, whose concept has been floated for a while, along with a separate film that will be a mash-up with '22 Jump Street' stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
The film revolves around two female cops who go undercover as students in some sort of a school setting.
The previous two 'Jump Street', which starred Hill and Tatum set at a high school and at a college respectively, grossed 201.6 million dollars worldwide in 2012 and 331.3 million dollars two years later.
However, it is unknown if the pair will have a part in this latest spinoff.
Rothman most recently wrote the comedy 'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping' starring Andy Samberg.
