Security forces arrested two hardcore Maoists in a major offensive against rebels in Jharkhand.

Several arms, bullets and various mobile phones were recovered from their hideout.

"In a joint operation, security forces got the success in arresting two hardcore Maoists. Ten guns have been recovered from them," said Superintendent of Police Bhim Sen Tuti.

Security forces and police have launched an "all-out operation" against People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a breakaway faction of the CPI (Maoist) and the second largest extremist outfit in Jharkhand.

Forces are raiding hideouts in Gumla, Simdega, Ranchi and Singhbhum districts of the rebel outfits' hotbed.

According to police, PLFI cadres are engaged in collecting levy from contractors, small industrialists, traders and transporters. A police report in 2014 said PLFI carried out as many incidents as CPI (Maoist).

Meanwhile, a security personnel allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Gumla district on Wednesday.

The deceased security personnel was identified as Ashish Thapa.

It was not immediately known what caused Thapa to commit suicide. Police have found no suicide note.
