Seventh suspect arrested in Gauri Lankesh murder case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested the seventh suspect in connection with the Gauri Lankesh murder case.

A person identified as Mohan Nayak, was arrested from Karnataka's Dakshin Kannada district.

He has been sent to a six day police custody by a local court.

On a related note, the sixth person arrested by the SIT was Parshuram Waghmare, 26, on June 12 in connection with the murder of Lankesh.

Waghmare who was said to have links with rightwing groups was held from Sindhagi in Vijaypura district of the state.

Earlier, five persons- K. T. Naveen Kumar alias Hotte Manja, Amol Kale, Manohar Edve, Sujeeth Kumar alias Praveen and Amit Degvekar were also arrested in connection with the case.

 

Gauri Lankesh was shot dead outside her Bengaluru residence on September 5, 2017.
