Pakistan's top civil-military leadership, which reviewed the internal security situation on Tuesday a day after the Shabqadar court attack, vowed to eliminate terrorism.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Islamabad in which top civil and military leaders were present. The participants condemned the cowardly act of terrorism in Shabqadar in which civilians and law enforcement agency personnel lost their precious lives, reports Dawn.

The meeting agreed that elimination of terrorism from Pakistani soil is a national resolve and paid tributes to those who embraced martyrdom while fighting the menace of terrorism.

The meeting comes a day after 16 people, including three police personnel, were killed in a suicide attack in Shabqadar Bazaar of Charsadda district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) splinter group Jammatul Ahrar has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a revenge for Mumtaz Qadri's execution. Qadri was executed for killing Salman Taseer, former governor, Punjab.
