The southwest monsoon on Sunday advanced and reached the southern parts of Gujarat, as well as the Konkan region, Maharashtra, Karnataka and some parts of Chhattisgarh and Vidharbha.

According to reports, the Meteorological Department has termed the conditions for the further advance of the monsoon as 'favourable' and has predicted that it will reach Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar in the coming week.

Meanwhile, Delhi and the surrounding regions have witnessed light rain, which has brought down the temperature in the parched national capital. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the rains will continue in North India over the next 24 hours.

On Saturday, the Meteorological Department had predicted that heavy rainfall would continue in north and western parts of the country in the coming week.
