Stampede in MP kills 10

Ten pilgrims died today in a stampede at Kamtanath temple in Chitrakoot town of Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, the accident happened early in the morning. The pilgrims were gathering for the "Parikrama (circumambulation) of the hill which houses the temple on Somavati Amavasya (no moon day), an occasion that falls on a Monday in traditional Hindu calendar.

A magisterial enquiry has been ordered to probe the accident.
