Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome, has confessed that her diagnosis was "a relief" because people thought she had "brain damage".

During an interview with the Observer, the 52-year-old singer, who found fame after appearing on Britain's Got Talent, said that she had visited a specialist in Scotland, who told her that her IQ was above average, but she had Asperger's syndrome, the Independent reported.

The Scottish mezzo-soprano asserted that she has always known that she had an unfair label put upon her as her condition made her different to her peers as a child and it made her even more determined to be where she wanted to be.
