Tunisian feminist faces six months jail for having self-protection device

A Tunisian woman, who gained notoriety in the past for posting her topless pictures online as a form of protest, has been sentenced to serve six months in jail for carrying a dangerous object.
Amina Tyler was charged for possession of a pen-sized device that contained tear gas or pepper spray for self-protection. She is due to appear in court on Thursday.
News24 reported that Tyler was arrested while trying to protest for women rights in the religious center of Kairouane where ultra-conservative Muslims had planned to hold a conference.
Tyler scribbled 'Femen' on the wall of a cemetery near the main mosque. Femen is a Ukrainian feminist group that uses nudity in protests, the report added.
