Two leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party were brutally murdered early in the morning on Sunday in Bankura district of West Bengal.
Bikash Dutta, 45 and his father Madhu, 65, died after their throats were slit.
Bikash Dutta was the president of Trinamool Congress Local Committee in Hatgram within Bankura district's Indpur community.
A local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Subhasis Batabyal and State Agriculture Secretary told the media that Bikash was the most popular leader in this locality and had earlier received various threats.
They added that they had asked the police and the administration to hold a proper investigation into the matter to catch the culprits.
