U.S. envoy expresses sadness over passing of Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee

United States Ambassador to India Richard Verma on Tuesday expressed his sadness over the passing of President Pranab Mukherjee's wife, Suvra Mukherjee.

In a statement, Ambassador Verma said, "I am deeply saddened to hear today's news of the passing of India's First Lady Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee. Mrs. Mukherjee was a dedicated wife, mother and artist whose memory will live on through her family and her contributions to Indian art, poetry and dance."

"On behalf of the people of the United States, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of President Mukherjee. I wish the people of India strength in this time of loss.
