The U.S. State Department has said that its envoys in Islamabad and New Delhi are in talks with the Pakistan and Indian Governments to convince them to continue with their dialogue and reduce tensions along the border.

State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said Washington is particularly concerned about a war-like situation emerging due to the LoC cross-border firing and killing of soldiers, the Dawn reports.

She said the United States did not want tensions to increase on the borders between the two nuclear capable countries.

Harf said this was not the time to appoint a special envoy to resolve the Kashmir dispute, but efforts can be made to encourage bilateral dialogue for establishing peace.
