UP Govt. orders magisterial inquiry into Barabanki incident

The Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Barabanki incident, where a woman anganwadi worker was allegedly set on fire by two policemen in the state's Barabanki district.

"The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry, strictest action will be taken against the culprits," Akhilesh Yadav told reporters here.

The victim's son had earlier demanded justice for his mother, saying she would only rest in peace when the guilty are punished.

According to reports, the woman had gone to the police station to free her husband, who had been picked up for questioning. When she refused to bribe the policemen in order to release her husband, she was set ablaze.
