Terrorists may try to smuggle explosives on airlines flying to Russia using toothpaste tubes, the Department of Homeland has warned ahead of the Winter Olympic starting from 7th Feb, 2014.
The threat was passed on to airlines that have direct flights to Russia, a law enforcement official said.
According to Fox News, the official said the airlines were warned that explosive devices could be assembled in flight or upon arrival at the Olympics.
United Airlines, the official airline of the U.S. Olympic team, does not have scheduled service to Russia but is operating some charter flights to Sochi, the report added.
