Workers at the unfinished Itaquerao Stadium in Sao Paolo, where three workers were killed during construction, have reportedly gone on indefinite strike.

Builders at the Itaquerao Arena downed tools in protest at another death of a construction worker Fabio Hamilton da Cruz, who plunged 26ft to his death while installing seating, making him the eighth labourer to die at Brazil 2014 sites.

According to the Daily Star, ahead of the event on June 12, organisers fear that the ground will not be completed in time for the curtain-raiser between the hosts and Croatia.

The 65,000-seater stadium was already behind schedule after two workers were killed when a crane collapsed.

It is one of six grounds that was not finished by FIFA's 2013 deadline, while two others remain under construction, one in Cuiaba and the other in Curitiba, the report added.
