Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily on Sunday said that he was yet to receive comments from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh or Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, over increasing quota of subsidised LPG cylinders from nine to 12 per household in a year.

Moily said increasing the cap to 12 cylinders would result in an additional fuel subsidy burden but the final decision over the issue would be taken by the by the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA).

"I have read in newspapers about Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi taking up the issue of increasing the LPG cap with the Prime Minister. I am yet to get comments from the Congress Vice President or the Prime Minister," he told media here today.

He said if the quota is raised, about 97 per cent of LPG consumers would get subsidised LPG, and the government was considering suggestions over the issue.

"Even if that proposal comes and we need to examine the pros and cons of it then take a proper decision. Of course, ultimately decision will be taken Cabinet Committee or the CCA or the political committee," he added.
