Mercedes added a member to its AMG range in India – the Mercedes Benz GL63 AMG priced at Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Merc has quite a lot of scintillating performance edition of its stock cars in AMG avatar in India ranging from iconic SLS AMG to capable off roader like G63 AMG, mind baffling drop dead beauties like SLK 55, SLS AMG roadsters to meaty saloons like E63 AMG and C63 AMG.
Under the hood is a blistering 5.5 liter V8, sucking air with twin-turbos putting out 557bhp in a range of 5,250-5,750rpm and maximum torque of 760Nm in between 2,000-5,000rpm. The all wheel drive layout is matted to a 7G-TRONIC transmission with SPEEDSHIFT PLUS. The powertrain is capable of propelling this mighty seven seater from stand-still to a 100kmph barrier in a bursting 4.9 seconds with the top whack electronically limited to 250kmph.

Speaking of the AMG add-on the GL63 looks meaner than the GL class with restyled bumpers with larger air intakes and blacked out grille and the MB logo. The rear bumper mimics the front bumper profile and is incorporated with quad exhaust. The GL class is manufacturer here at the Mercedes Benz India facility in Pune while the GL63 AMG will imported completely through CBU (completely build units) route from Affalterbach, Germany.
