Australian shares ended session higher on Wednesday, 03 January 2018, riding on solid Wall Street gains to start the New Year on a confident note, with shares of materials and energy sectors being notable gains, thanks to a rally in commodity prices. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index added 9.1 points or 0.15% to close at 6070.39.
