Australia Market falls on weak offshore lead

Australia stock market finished session down on Tuesday, 15 May 2018, as investors elected to book recent profit amid soft lead from offshore market overnight. All sectors of the market were weaker, with the the telecom sector leading losses. The S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.6%, or 37.5 points, to 6,097.8 and the broader All Ordinaries index shed 0.6% to 6,198.7 points. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 684 to 528 and 399 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 7.21% to 11.597.
