The benchmark S&P/ASX200 was up 77.4 points, or 1.29%, at 6,094.0 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 75.7 points, or 1.23%, at 6,205.3 points. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 762 to 483 and 408 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.25% to 11.494.
