Net purchases of Rs 1480.91 crore on 21 March 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) made heavy purchases of Indian stocks for the second straight trading session. They bought stocks worth a net Rs 1480.91 crore on Monday, 21 March 2016. FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 1887.42 crore during the preceding trading session on 18 March 2016. The net inflow of Rs 1480.91 crore into the secondary equity markets on 21 March 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4830 crore and gross sales of Rs 3349.09 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped 332.63 points or 1.33% to settle at 25,285.37, its highest closing level since 6 January 2016.
There was a net outflow of Rs 0.84 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' on 21 March 2016.
FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 14364.48 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 21 March 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 6069.31 crore into the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have offloaded shares worth a net Rs 1886.76 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 21 March 2016). FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4361.67 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net inflow of Rs 169.81 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 21 March 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 547.92 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month.
The net outflow from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 226.78 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 21 March 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22167.82 from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
