Export of Oilmeals Up by 95% April - October 2017

The Solvent Extractors' Association of India has compiled the export data for export of oilmeals for the month of October 2017. The export during October 2017 is provisionally reported at 73,863 tons compared to 103,640 tons in October 2016 i.e. down by 29%. The overall export of oilmeals during April - October 2017 provisionally reported at 1,358,651 tons compared to 698,169 tons during the same period of last year i.e. Up by 95%.

In last four months the export of oilmeals improved compared to the previous year, thanks to good monsoon, better oilseeds production and price parity. In percentage terms export showing improvement, but still it is lower compared to earlier years, which can be seen from the below table. It may be also noted that India faced drought years during 2014-15 and 2015-16, which lead to lower production of oilseeds which affected export of oilmeals to a lowest level, however with good monsoon last year, export revived to some extent.

 

Germany, Vietnam, South Korea & Europe - Major Importers of Oilmeals:-

During April - Oct., 2017 oilmeal imported by Vietnam from India reported at 230,432 tons compared to 160,912 tons; consisting of 16,978 tons of soybean meal, 34,751 tons of rapeseed meal and 178,703 tons of De-oiled Rice Bran Extraction. South Korea imported 427,126 tons compared to 385,301 tons; consisting 158,992 tons of rapeseed meal, 246,321 tons of castor meal and 21,813 tons of soybean meal. Bangladesh imported 108,002 tons compared to 14,016 tons; consisting 35,057 tons of rapeseed meal, 3,609 tons of De-oiled Rice Bran Extractions and 69,336 tons of soybean meal. Thailand imported 78,161 tons compared to 2,097 tons; consisting 58,628 tons of rapeseed meal, 9,454 tons of De-oiled Rice Bran Extractions and 10,079 tons of soybean meal. European countries were the major importer of Indian Soybean Meal. France imported 74,177; consisting 69,605 tons of soybean meal and 4,572 tons of Castor meal and rest of European countries imported 134,153 tons of oilmeals.

Port-wise Export : April - October 2017

The export from Kandla is reported at 694,336 tons (51%), followed by Mumbai including JNPT handled 205,674 tons (15%), Mundra handled 132,063 tons (10%) and Kolkata handled 194,758 tons (14%).
