Net inflow of Rs 662 crore on 17 January 2018
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 662 crore from the secondary equity markets on 17 January 2018, lower than net inflow of Rs 778.01 crore on 16 January 2018. On 17 January 2018, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, surged 310.77 points or 0.89% to settle at 35,081.82, its record closing high.
The net inflow of Rs 662 crore into the secondary equity markets on 17 January 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7755.28 crore and gross sales of Rs 7093.28 crore.
There was a net inflow of Rs 146.95 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 17 January 2018, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 179.42 crore and gross sales of Rs 32.47 crore.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 4002.71 crore from the secondary equity markets in January 2018 so far (till 17 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 3345.02 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 152.13 crore into the primary market & others' category in January 2018 so far (till 17 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 2537.66 crore into the primary market & others' category in December 2017.
