Net purchases of Rs 797.10 crore on 5 October 2015
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 797.10 crore on 5 October 2015, much higher than net inflow of Rs 96.48 crore on 1 October 2015. The stock market was closed on 2 October 2015, on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
The net inflow of Rs 797.10 crore into the secondary equity markets on 5 October 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5297.53 crore and gross sales of Rs 4500.43 crore. The Sensex had surged 564.60 points or 2.15% to settle at 26,785.55 on 5 October 2015, its highest closing level since 21 August 2015.
There was an inflow of Rs 3.73 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 5 October 2015.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 1126.03 crore in this month so far (till 5 October 2015). They sold shares worth a net Rs 11087.28 crore into the secondary equity markets last month.
