Net inflow of Rs 319.86 crore on 19 May 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 319.86 crore on 19 May 2016 compared with net outflow of Rs 161.89 crore on 18 May 2016. The net inflow of Rs 319.86 crore into the secondary equity markets on 19 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4237.92 crore and gross sales of Rs 3918.06 crore. On that day, the Sensex lost 304.89 points or 1.19% to settle at 25,399.72, its lowest closing level since 6 May 2016.

There was an inflow of Rs 20.85 crore from 'primary markets & others' category on 19 May 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 21 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.15 crore.

 

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 1218.61 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 19 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 14035.62 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 19 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 576.60 crore in this month so far (till 19 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 670.41 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 19 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
