FPIs turn buyers

Net purchase of Rs 88.82 crore on 3 October 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 88.82 crore from the secondary equity markets on 3 October 2016, compared with their net selling of Rs 1003.90 crore during the preceding trading session on 30 September 2016. The net inflow of Rs 88.82 crore on 3 October 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3776.14 crore and gross sales of Rs 3687.32 crore. On that day, the Sensex rose 377.33 points or 1.35% to settle at 28,243.29, its highest closing level since 28 September 2016.
The net inflow of Rs 19.96 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 3 October 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 20 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.04 crore.
FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 7217.88 crore from the secondary equity markets in September 2016. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 45514.19 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 3 October 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4863.71 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 3225.37 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in September 2016. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 5703.74 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 3 October 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
