FPIs turn net buyers

Net purchases of Rs 245.69 crore on 2 September 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 245.69 crore from the secondary equity market on 2 September 2016, compared with their sale of Rs 382.37 crore during the preceding trading session on 1 September 2016. The net inflow of Rs 245.69 crore on 2 September 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3644.03 crore and gross sales of Rs 3398.34 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 108.63 points or 0.38% to settle at 28,532.11, its highest level since 16 April 2015.
There was no transaction by FPIs into the 'primary market & others' category on 2 September 2016.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 762.70 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 2 September 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 12068.52 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 39974.09 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 September 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net inflow of Rs 24.07 crore from FPIs from the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 2 September 2016). There was a net inflow of Rs 543.30 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 1662.41 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 September 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
