Paddy has been offered highest hike of 4.1%
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for kharif crops of 2014-15 season. The MSP hike for 2014-15 has been sharply modest at up to 4%, compared with up to 14% offered in the last season.MSP for bajra (Rs 1250 per quintal), maize (Rs 1310 per quintal), groundnut (Rs 4000 per quintal) and soyabean-yellow (Rs 2560 per quintal) has been retained unchanged, while paddy has been offered highest hike of 4.1%.
The MSP of Paddy-Grade A has been raised by Rs 55 to Rs 1400 per quintal, while that for jowar and ragi has been raised by 2% to Rs 1530 per quintal and 3.3% to Rs 1550 per quintal for kharif 2014-15.
Among the pulses, the MSP of Arhar (Tur) has been hiked by 1.2% to Rs 4350 per quintal, while Moong received a hike of 2.2% to Rs 4600 per quintal for 2014-15. The MSP for urad is also raised by 1.2% to Rs 4350 per quintal for 2014-15
Among the oilseeds, the MSPs of Sesamum has been hiked by 2.2% to Rs 4600 per quintal, while the MSPs of sunflowerseed and nigerseed increased by 1.4% to Rs 3750 per quintal and 2.9% to Rs 3600 per quintal over last year's levels.
MSP of Cotton (Medium Staple) and Cotton (Long Staple) have been raised by 1.4% to Rs 3750 per quintal and 1.3% to Rs 4050 per quintal, respectively in 2014-15.
