Shares of four oil exploration and production companies rose 1.43% to 5.43% at 10:30 IST on BSE after global crude oil prices surged in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 139.49 points, or 0.57% at 24,769.02.
Cairn India (up 5.43%), Reliance Industries (RIL) (up 1.43%), Oil India (up 3.65%), and ONGC (up 1.99%) edged higher. Higher crude oil prices would result in higher realization from crude sales for oil exploration firms.
