Over 50,000 MT pulse seized so far under de-hoarding operations

Prices show declining trends in wholesale markets

De-hoarding operations across the states have resulted in seizure of 50475.25 MT pulses so far. Total 3,149 raids have been conducted by the states after the amendment in the Central Order under Essential Commodities Act. The amendment has enabled the States to impose stock limits on all types of stock of pulses. The States were exhorted to intensify action against hoarding.

State-wise seizure of pulses so far is as follow-

As a result of action taken by the States there has been a decrease of about Rs.200 per quintal in the mandi rates of pulses in Mumbai and also in future trading of Chana. Decrease in retails prices of pulses has also been seen in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
