PVR slips after weak Q3 performance

PVR lost 0.66% to trade at Rs 1907.10 after the company announced its third quarter earnings during market hours today.
On a consolidated basis, net profit fell 34.25% to Rs 36.34 crore in Q3 December 2019 as compared to Rs 55.27 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. Profit before tax (PBT) fell 34.54% to Rs 58.33 crore in Q3 December 2019 from Rs 89.11 crore recorded in Q3 December 2018.
Revenue from operations rose 8.61% to Rs 915.74 crore in Q3 December 2019 from Rs 843.11 crore in Q3 December 2018.
Revenues from the movie exhibition segment rose by 7.65% to Rs 885.29 crore while other revenues (including movies production, distribution and gaming, etc.) increased by 32.96% to Rs 55.14 crore in Q3 December 2019 over Q3 December 2018.
The company's tax expense fell 34.88% to Rs 22.07 crore in Q3 December 2019 from Rs 33.89 crore in Q3 December 2018.
PVR owns and manages multiplex movie theaters.
