Quick Wrap: Nifty Energy Index declines 2.52%

Nifty Energy index ended down 2.52% at 13661.55 today. The index is down 12.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd slipped 4.37%, Reliance Industries Ltd dropped 3.51% and Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd shed 2.80%. The Nifty Energy index is down 2.00% over last one year compared to the 0.97% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Commodities index is down 1.49% and Nifty Media index has dropped 1.49% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has slid 0.57% to close at 10245.25 while the SENSEX is down 0.53% to close at 34134.38 today.
