Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index registers a drop of 2.83%

Nifty Metal index closed down 2.83% at 3299.2 today. The index has lost 2.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Hindalco Industries Ltd fell 5.33%, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd dropped 5.32% and Welspun Corp Ltd added 4.05%. The Nifty Metal index has decreased 14.00% over last one year compared to the 3.47% spike in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty IT index has slid 2.16% and Nifty Pharma index has slid 1.92% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has declined 1.00% to close at 10656.2 while the SENSEX has declined 0.84% to close at 35474.51 today.
