Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 0.97%

Nifty Metal index closed up 0.97% at 2796.2 today. The index is up 3.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd added 4.97%, Hindustan Copper Ltd rose 3.77% and NMDC Ltd shed 3.08%. The Nifty Metal index is down 3.00% over last one year compared to the 12.89% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty MNC index added 0.97% and Nifty Media index gained 0.96% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 increased 0.56% to close at 12248.25 while the SENSEX recorded a gain of 0.55% to close at 41613.19 today.
