Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 2.88%

Nifty Metal index closed up 2.88% at 2665.75 today. The index is up 7.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd gained 6.47%, Tata Steel Ltd jumped 4.37% and Steel Authority of India Ltd added 3.55%. The Nifty Metal index is down 16.00% over last one year compared to the 11.72% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty IT index added 1.88% and Nifty Commodities index added 1.18% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 added 0.92% to close at 12165 while the SENSEX added 1.01% to close at 41352.17 today.
