Quick Wrap: Nifty Private Bank Index falls 17.88%, NIFTY Crashes 12.98%

Nifty Private Bank index closed down 17.88% at 8974.3 today. The index has slipped 47.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Axis Bank Ltd dropped 27.91%, Federal Bank Ltd slipped 24.20% and IndusInd Bank Ltd shed 23.59%. The Nifty Private Bank index has fallen 47.00% over last one year compared to the 33.57% slide in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Bank index has dropped 16.73% and Nifty Financial Services index is down 15.94% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 is down 12.98% to close at 7610.25 while the SENSEX has slid 13.15% to close at 25981.24 today.
