Quick Wrap: Nifty PSU Bank Index rises 2.72%

Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 2.72% at 2780.3 today. The index is down 10.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Central Bank of India gained 4.85%, Punjab National Bank jumped 3.55% and Bank of India rose 3.36%. The Nifty PSU Bank index is down 9.00% over last one year compared to the 3.46% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Energy index added 1.63% and Nifty Commodities index increased 1.04% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 0.69% to close at 10584.75 while the SENSEX added 0.85% to close at 35162.48 today.
