Siemens gains after winning order

Siemens rose 1.61% to Rs 1,294.50 at 13:25 IST on BSE after the company said it won order worth Rs 81 crore from Diesel Locomotive Works.

The announcement was made during trading hours today, 14 September 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 180.67 points, or 0.71%, to 25,790.88.

On BSE, so far 23,000 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 43,434 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 1,298 and a low of Rs 1,276.05 so far during the day. The stock hit a record high of Rs 1,558 on 6 August 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 770 on 16 October 2014.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 11 September 2015, sliding 13.18% compared with 8.10% fall in the Sensex. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 1.74% as against Sensex's 2.88% decline.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 71.22 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Siemens announced that it has won a crucial order approximately worth Rs 81 crore from Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. The scope of work for the project includes supply and supervision for installation and commissioning of AC-AC traction systems including Locomotive Controller for Diesel Electric Locomotives.

Siemens' net profit rose 1195.23% to Rs 168.25 crore on 0.1% increase in net sales to Rs 2322.01 crore in Q3 June 2015 over Q3 June 2014.

Siemens focuses on the areas of electrification, automation and digitalization. It is one of the leading producers of energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies; combined cycle turbines for power generation; and power transmission solutions. The company is also a leading supplier of medical imaging equipment - such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging systems - and a leader in laboratory diagnostics as well as clinical IT.
