Nifty January 2017 futures at premium
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,177.90, a small premium of 24.30 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,153.60 in the cash market. The January 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,213.60, a premium of 60 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment jumped to Rs 6.67 lakh crore from Rs 2.4 lakh crore registered on Wednesday, 14 December 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 28.85 points or 0.35% to settle at 8,153.60, its lowest closing level since 7 December 2016.
Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Vedanta, ICICI Bank and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Axis Bank December 2016 futures traded at 478.75, same compared with spot closing of 478.75. SBI December 2016 futures traded at 266.15, at a premium over spot closing of 265.35. Vedanta December 2016 futures traded at 236.45, at a premium over spot closing of 235.95.
ICICI Bank December 2016 futures traded at 261.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 260.30. Yes Bank December 2016 futures traded at 1,191.15, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1,186.70.
The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
