Nifty January 2017 futures at premium
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,204, a small premium of 21.55 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,182.45 in the cash market. The January 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,237.15, a premium of 54.70 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 2.4 lakh crore from Rs 2.07 lakh crore registered on Tuesday, 13 December 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 39.35 points or 0.48% to settle at 8,182.45, its lowest closing level since 12 December 2016.
Axis Bank, Vedanta, Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Motors, and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Axis Bank December 2016 futures traded at 467, at a premium over spot closing of 466.55. Vedanta December 2016 futures traded at 236, at a premium over spot closing of 235.50. RIL December 2016 futures traded at 1,060, at a premium over spot closing of 1,056.35.
Tata Motors December 2016 futures traded at 471.85, at a premium compared with spot closing of 471.55. SBI December 2016 futures traded at 263.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 263.
The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
