NTPC, Ess Dee Aluminium, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Omaxe are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 10 October 2013.
SKF India clocked volume of 5.15 lakh shares by 12:37 IST on BSE, a 16.50-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 31,000 shares. The stock rose 0.46% to Rs 664.25.
NTPC notched up volume of 42.93 lakh shares, a 16.20-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.65 lakh shares. The stock tumbled 10.93% to Rs 136.50. Shares of power generation and distribution firms declined after the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) released draft regulations which will decide power tariffs for a period of five years from 1 April 2014.
CERC's draft regulations will decide power tariffs for the five-year 2014-2019 period and will impact regulated power generating and transmission companies like NTPC, NHPC, Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam and Torrent Power. The main highlight of this CERC's draft is that power tariffs are set to get cheaper. Further, CERC has not changed the operating and maintenance expenses.
Ess Dee Aluminium saw volume of 93,000 shares, a 9.89-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock surged 8.06% to Rs 575.25.

Omaxe saw volume of 4.99 lakh shares, a 2.77-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.81 lakh shares. The stock fell 0.35% to Rs 126.95.
