13 killed in Indonesia boat capsize

At least 13 people died and eight others were missing after a boat sank in waters off Makasar of South Sulawesi province in Indonesia on Wednesday, a government official said.

A passenger boat was hit by strong winds and huge waves after departing eight kilometers from the Paoetere seaport in Makasar city, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency told Xinhua news agency.

A search and rescue operation was underway.
