At least 17 people were killed and 35 injured in a collision between a car and a bus in Afghanistan, officials said Friday.

The accident took place in Wardak province Thursday night, Xinhua reported.

According to the officials, those killed in the accident were six from the car and 11 from the bus.

"All the 35 injured, including women and children, some of them in critical conditions, were commuters of the bus," the officials said.

"The reason for the accident was reckless driving of the bus," the officials added.
