20 abducted in Afghanistan

At least 20 persons involved in de-mining operations were abducted by armed men in Afghanistan's Logar province, official said on Thursday.

"Some unidentified armed men intercepted a bus of a de-mining agency on the outskirts of provincial capital Pul-e-Alam on Wednesday evening and took the bus along with 20 de-miners to an unknown location," the provincial government spokesman told Xinhua news agency.

A search operation was underway to ensure the safe release of those abducted.
