2G case: 645 questions for Essar, Loop promoters

A court here hearing 2G spectrum case Wednesday supplied a questionnaire containing 645 question to Essar Group and Loop Telecom promoters who are among the accused.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini fixed the matter for recording of the statement of accused for May 5 and supplied 645 questions running into 308 pages to the defence counsel of accused.

Earlier, the court had fixed April 16 for supplying the questionnaire. The questions are part of recording the statements of the accused.

A third set of charges filed by the CBI in the 2G case alleged that promoters of the Essar Group were the real investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum and licenses issued to the Loop Telecom, which was used as a front company by the Essar to acquire 2G licenses and spectrum in 2008.

 

This has been denied by the accused.

On March 25, the court supplied over 1,700 questions running into 824 pages to the accused, including former communications minister A. Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi in a separate case related to the 2G scam.
