7 killed in China house explosion

At least seven persons were killed and 94 injured in an explosion in a house in China's Shaanxi province on Monday, authorities said.

After initial investigation it was unclear what caused the explosion. It, however, indicated that the makeshift house was built inside a residential compound in Fugu county, Xinhua news agency reported.

The township's hospital was among the buildings destroyed by the blast.

Dozens of firefighters and rescuers were combing the rubble to look for more survivors.
