Benfica has terminated the contract of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar by mutual agreement, the Portuguese football club announced.

Benfica confirmed the termination in a statement on its official website on Tuesday, accompanied by a video on which the goalkeeper says goodbye to his teammates, reports Efe.

"By mutual agreement, Benfica and the goalkeeper Julio Cesar have agreed today, November 28, the termination of the contract that would run until the end of the 2017/18 season," the club said.

Cesar expressed gratitude to his teammates and coaches at the Portuguese club, which he joined in 2014.
